Class Descriptions 20-week program (except classes noted) Registration Fee: $10 Course Fee: $100 /month Fall & Spring Graduation Additional cost for costuming ADULT DANCE CLASSES Dance Ministry Structure 'Acquire practical organizational skills to establish a Biblical, effective Dance Ministry administration. Learn scriptural patterns of development for your dance team. Class will teach on how to prepare ministerial proposals for presentations to Pastors, leadership, and the church. How to structure rehearsals, auditions, training classes and much more. Dance ministry class is a 12 week course. Foundational I This class equips each student with the knowledge and understanding of the ministry of dance by studying Biblical scriptures and spiritual principles to operate effectively as a Dance Minister. Foundational I class is a requisite to receive your certificate for any of the classes. . Congregational I Dancers learn how to effectively minister as a team in their churches. Emphasis is placed on a spontaneous flow using dance cues rather than relying on choreographed material. Basic ballet, learning dance terminology, word association movements, and more. Interpretive-Choreography Intermediate dance class teaching staging information, floor patterns, and dramatic technical movements are taught to help dancers interpret songs with character interpretations, dramatics, definition in movement, and a more thorough execution in bringing forth a message or storyline. Modern I A style in theatrical dance that goes beyond the limitations of classical Ballet and favors movement deriving from expression of inner feelings. It is a revolutionary concept of dance breaking from the traditional technical restrictions of ballet. Hip Hop I This class focuses on the integration of contemporary and hip-hop styles of dance into your flow of ministry. If you are serious about hip-hop, or just want to have fun, this class is for you. Men's Dance This class is designed for the outwardly expressive male dancer in dance ministry. Movements in Jazz, Modern and Classic techniques with worship being it's core passion. Class length:1 1/2 hr. (1/2 dedicated to Biblical Studies for foundation requisite). Latin I This class holds a bit of flavor for those interested in cultural expressions in their repertoire and praise display. Introduction to Latin rhythms like meringue, salsa, char char, Bach, flamenco, rumba, and more! We endeavor, in this class, to exhibit the many facets of righteous _expression through this creative, passionate dance. African This class has gleaned and has taken the positive side of God's diversity in it's cultural dance _expression to expand the horizons. Percussion rhythms graced with wisdom and powerful energy brings a strength to type of dances. Exuberant joy are displayed in African dance that can be utilized in choreography's. Culturally rich, African dance has it's place in Godly display. Hebrew Folk Dance Messianic or David Dance are other names to describe this type of dance. It is a praise and worship dance that combines Israeli folk and contemporary worship music. Worship with David Dance has been a part of Israel since the earliest days of its faith _expression (Shot/Exodus 15: 20). David Dance was a significant component of the Temple worship in the time of Yeshiva (the Messiah's Hebrew name). It is worship that can be presented by both men and women of faith. Mime I This class is the first in DEM to open to children ages 8 to 12 years old for training in Pantomime foundational teaching in Mime ministry is incorporated with their technical application. Latin I This class modified to train children ages 8 to 12 years old. This class will teach the appreciation and beauty of Latin dance. This class holds and channels the God given energy of our young generation to express themselves with dance in a different edifying nature, therefore broadening their horizons. Tambourine I Finally a class for our young learners interested in tambourine dance. Children ages 8 to 12 years old can enjoy the joyful rhythms of this expressive celebratory _expression. How to prepare portfolios, information on the actors guild and connections to acting agencies. How to get and prepare for auditions. Praise & Worship Training Understand the biblical foundation of music and singing for the church and ministry. A training program for those interested in learning Worship ministry protocol. Mime I An introduction to the art form of mime with basic foundational techniques. Body positions, motion exercises, isolation, moving illusions, dramatization, facial expressions, stationary movements, characterization & make-up. MUSIC PROGRAM Guitar I / Acoustic (group class) Fundamental beginners level guitar lessons which consist of, all basic chords (major and minor), strumming patterns, instrument maintanance and tuning. This class will also involve learning simple praise and worship songs. Piano/ Beginners Level (group class) This class will teach note recognition, scales, fingering, rhythms, the basic elementry theory of music. Drum Lesson (group class) Fundamental beginners level drum lessons which consist of, reading sheet music and understanding time. You will learn instrument maintananace, and how to change strings. Piano/ Beginners Level (group class) This class will teach note recognition, scales, fingering, rhythms, the basic elementry theory of music. Vocal Foundation (group class) Learn the basic understanding of vocal anatomy, scales, correct breathing techniques, proper warm-ups and note recognition.
